Each Naturalis camper selects from over 40 adventure camp activities for a truly individualized summer camp experience, ranging from water skiing to golf to horseback riding, so campers get to CHOOSE the activities that best interest them with surprise celebrity guest appearance not excluded.

Most importantly, Camp Naturalis builds character and values in its campers. It is a key component to a well-rounded education as children learn responsibility, cooperation and reconnect with nature while gaining independence and confidence.

Our dynamic group of college counselors serve as positive role models for your child, and we strive to keep a counselor to camper ratio of 1:4 in each cabin. We are accredited by the American Camping Association, because we know that the safety of your child is of the utmost importance.

Teen campers get to work up their Adreline and learn how to survive, explore and enjoy the winter outdoors in a safe and secure environment. Testing different camping gears- some of which they get to take home.

Bring the entire family or come stay with us and test your ability to live unplugged in cabins equipped with solar supplied electricity, rain water, recycled grey water and more – all of which you learn how to take care of or build yourself. 

With your stuck of fresh vegetables and food as you would have in the real off grid experience. You can even take our classes (bread making, preserves, jam..).

Solutions are everywhere in nature

Nature has been around a lot longer than science you think or has science always been the nature of things?

Having stumbled upon several inventions and designs mimicking nature I discovered a new science called Biomimicry that “studies nature’s models and then imitates or takes inspiration from these designs and processes to solve human problems” or as Biomimicry.org explains, it “is the practice of looking to nature for inspiration to solve design problems in a regenerative way”.

It is not surprising to find these designs in nature. Through centuries evolution and adaptation nature has learnt to survive in their biomes and eco systems with models and designs. By mimicking the plants and animals in nature we are delivering solutions to environmental and social problems like climate change, ocean pollution, energy sources, waste management, habitation and more.

Application of the way birds fly has taken us to Space. In Zimbabwe a green building has been architecturally modeled after termite mounds.

Other inventions like Velcro, swim fins(ducks), winged suits(flying squirrel), Japanese bullet train (king fisher bird), Swim suits (from shark denticles).

Lots of our problem’s are solved from the natural world. Stealing ideas and models from nature by copying nature’s designs can bring us closer to a carbon free future where we do not have to create biospheres and new Ecosystems but exist in the one we have.

Camp Naturalis campers will be exploring the science of Biomimicry with all the technology, engineering and mathematics involved in their creation. Even coming up with their own designs or walking away with ideas of them.
